jennifer and wilson // nyc engagement // chinatown, shake shack, flat iron building, madison square park

I absolutely love shooting engagement sessions in New York City. The city itself is a “backdrop” of its own. There is no other place like it. I was so excited to be working with Jennifer and Wilson in planning their engagement session in Manhattan. Jennifer had a clear idea of exactly the type of engagement photos that would reflect Wilson and her’s relationship to a tee.

The two met about five years ago in New York City. Jennifer is originally from Texas, and Wilson is a native New Yorker. Together, they currently live in a quaint studio in Chinatown, Manhattan. It was important to the couple to have Chinatown as the backdrop for one portion of their engagement photos. They love the hustle and bustle of the area, and not to mention, the food in Chinatown never disappoints (if you know where to go!). This area is the norm for them. Jennifer thought to herself, fifty years down the line, she would want to remember living in Chinatown as the start to where they began building a life together. They also had to have one photo in front of 10 Below Ice Cream in which Wilson is a part owner.

Another place in the big apple that holds a special place in their hearts is my favorite burger restaurant in the entire world… Shake Shack!! Wilson took Jennifer to the Shake Shack near Madison Square Park on their first date. After years of dating, he eventually proposed to her there surrounded by all their closest friends. It only made perfect sense to also to make engagement photo shoot memories there as well. The photos at Shake Shack turned out beautifully. We even made the floral arrangement for her bouquet on our own with leftover flowers we found around the apartment.

I cannot wait for these two to get hitched in Austin, Texas at VUKA this coming April. Stay tuned.
