Autumn Engagement in Washington Square Park

What’s more beautiful than Washington Square Park? An engagement session at Washington Square Park in the fall of course!

Upon meeting Sam and Ian, we knew we would love photographing them. Sam is also a photographer and photo director at The Kitchn, so you know she’s got serious style! The two have such a fun and loving relationship that you can feel in every image. But then they mentioned they had a dog named Gibson – a King Charles Cavalier to be exact – and we were hooked!

We started our day off by grabbing some coffee and strolling through Washington Square. It was a beautiful autumn morning, with a crispness in the air that made for some pretty tight cuddling! This is one of our favorite ways to photograph engagement sessions. It’s thrilling to tail behind couples and catch the beautiful and honest moments they’ll cherish forever. Sometimes it’s important to remember that you’ll only be a fiancé for a short while, so relish in it!

After making our way through the iconic Washington Square Park, the two dropped off their partner in crime Gibson back at their apartment in the neighborhood, so we could get shots of just the two of them. We highly recommend handing your fur baby off to a trusted comrade or back home to take some time for only each other. We’ve even added it to our list of engagement session tips and tricks! We then headed towards the cobblestone streets of Washington Mews. Sam and Ian danced and twirled between stunning brick buildings, complete with organically climbing vines! We couldn’t have asked for a more delightfully genuine day.

Blogging these photos is a little bittersweet. Ian and Sam are one of the first couples we heard from who’s wedding date is postponed to later this year due to the pandemic. Even though the original wedding date is rescheduled for these two lovebirds, we know we are going to celebrate twice as hard when this is all over!
