Bride and Groom in Texas

Photographing Touyen and Jimmie on their wedding day was nothing less than magical. The two met at their college graduation, where they even shared the same major but had somehow never run into each other! What we loved about this wedding is that the couple had a daughter six years before getting married, and they waited so they could have the most beautiful wedding, which included a daughter/groom first look – so sweet!

Touyen and Jimmie got engaged in April of 2018. Jimmie proposed in Hawaii, with their daughter and close friends in tow. “It was funny, clumsy, and sweet – just like our relationship.” We were ecstatic to do their engagement photos at Joshua Tree shortly after! The couple didn’t search long for a wedding venue. Touyen found Prospect House in Dripping Springs, Texas, on social media and was instantly drawn to the aesthetic. The blank canvas and white space feel were all they needed. When Touyen and Jimmie saw it in person for the first time, they knew it was perfect. It was the only venue they saw!

The couple decided on a fall wedding in October. They wanted to host a wedding that was modern yet warm and romantic. Touyen and Jimmie opted for mostly white decor, with lots of greenery and pampas grass to warm up the space. With the amount of white space and clean lines at the venue, this helped to make it feel romantic and inviting. Touyen wore a stunning gown by Daalarna Couture. The lace appliqué on top, combined with a taffeta skirt, made for a traditional and romantic wedding dress vibe.

Her favorite part of the gown?

It made me feel like a bride with the delicate lace. But it still matched the theme of a modern wedding. My dress was also so light. No padding, no heavy layers, despite it being a ball gown!”

Jimmie wore a custom tuxedo made by Geno Suits You, paired with velvet loafers by Manolo Men called “The Carlton.” Their beautiful daughter Madison, who was the flower girl, wore a custom made flower girl dress that matched her mom’s wedding dress!

Do you have any tips or words of wisdom for brides out there who are just starting to plan their weddings?

Plan EARLY! – This will help ensure you get the vendors you want and sometimes even save you money. You can lock in their current rates before it goes up since it usually does for most vendors. Discuss a budget with your fiancé so you both have an idea of how much money should be allocated for the wedding!
